Local and slow food served right here at Quinta da Fornalha! Whether you are a guest spending your well-deserved holiday with us or not, you can enjoy the delicately prepared petisco-style (light meals and snacks) cuisine made using only local and fresh ingredients. The mouth-watering shrimps can come from the town Vila Real de Santo Antonio , only 2 km away, while the juicy tomatoes, figs, and courgette are hand-picked from our own garden for you to enjoy. Because of this, everything that you will eat is in season, which is a great way to allow the sense to appreciate the nature that surrounds us. 

Taberna Remexida, literally translated to "rummaged tavern", a connotation to local historical legend who fought for the peasants in the area, is rich in Portuguese tradition and aims to reflect the biodiversity of the region of Castro Marim and the Algarves in her food. 

The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. If you would like to enjoy a meal at the restaurant, please book a reservation online or through the reception on the farm. We are happy to help you with any requests. We offer various vegetarian and vegan options, as well.

Nothing is done alone. Taberna Remexida is run by an awesome team of food enthusiasts. We are here to help you, laugh with you, and prepare food for you to enjoy.

As the care-taker of the restaurant, Maria-Joao runs the restaurant with love and pride. You can spot her with her two dogs, Pipoka and Patareco.

Every summer, new slow-food enthusiasts join the restaurant crew for the summer season. 


Volunteers joining the volunteering program occasionally help with preparation and serving.

As slow food members, we respect time and tradition, and what they bring to us. Therefore, it is our joy to give you a taste of our region and Portugal during your stay or visit at Quinta da Fornalha.
