Description
Algarve basketry is a living symbol of ancient harmony with nature. Controlling the damage while reaping the benefits. Using a plant that is on the national list of invasives, the common reed, the ancient Algarvians created this cylindrical basket, with a hinged lid and arched handle, for transporting fresh octopus.
Craftsman José Domingos keeps this ancient technique alive. We no longer carry octopuses like this, but the functionality has not been lost. It’s light, practical and durable. And it’s still as attractive as Jane Birkin (1946-2023) immortalised it.
Dimensions: 24cm diameter x 23cm height. Capacity 10 L
